Kampong Cham

Within a short drive of Phnom Penh this is the most frequented of sites in Cambodia. With over 20 designated routes, many of which are bolted, this is the perfect site for a day excursion away from the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh. Located just off Route 6 (the road to Siem Reap or Kampong Cham) it's easy to enjoy a day in the cool breezes of this well situated site.

No More Monks Rock

This area has two local names.  The first one is 'broken pot' ('bike being' in Khmer) and the other is 'no more monks' ('aht look'). We decided to go with No More Monks Rock because of the small Buddhist pagoda ruins that remain between two of the rock outcroppings. An old set of stairs remains as well.

Some of the locals children have gotten in on the action as well. They are quite good with bare feet as can be seen to the right.

Getting there from Phnom Penh:

Take Route 6 towards Siem Reap/Kampong Cham. After passing the road split with Route 61 heading off to the East some 41km out of Phnom Penh start watching for a small rock outcropping just off the road on the north (left) side. It will be the only significant rock outcropping very near Route 6.

It is suggested that you pay an adult to watch your car/motorcycle. Not because of theft but rather to maintain relations with the local villagers. A suggested amount is 2000-4000 Riel for a car and about 2000 Riel for a motorcycle.
